The Beauty of Sunless Tanning

There’s nothing like getting scalded — repeatedly – in the same area during a beach jaunt that makes you truly appreciate the art of sunless tanning.

Truly, spray tans are the new fast and healthy way to get a color boost, but the quickly fading color can be a downer.

Here are tips from Natalie Cupid, Senior Technician at Sundara Airbrush Tanning Salon in NYC, to hold on to that sun-kissed color as long as possible!

1. RUB YOURSELF DOWN:

Before any sunless tan, make sure to rub yourself down with a sugar or salt scrub to exfoliate the skin and provide a smooth canvas.
2. BE DIRTY:

It’s ok to be a little dirty, especially if it will help keep your tan looking great! Limit the number of showers you take during the tan. If you normally shower every day, try every other day instead.

3. DANCE NAKED:

Never vigorously rub your body with a towel after showering – it will irritate the skin and rub off your beautiful new color. Instead, walk around naked for a little bit or dance your way dry.

You can also use a DHA tan extender. I use Body Armor by EnvyTan. This helps my spray tan last longer and fade evenly. I also make sure to use DHA friendly products only after my tan. DHA friendly products will not effect the life and look of the spray tan. Bodyguard is a wonderful DHA friendly body wash and Hands Off is a great DHA friendly SPF 30 sunscreen.
