Luxe Scents at Cancun’s Luxury Avenue

Last summer in Cabo, and again, on recent trips to Cancun, I’ve fallen in love with Luxury Avenue.

It’s essentially Mexico’s answer to Rodeo Drive, and this season, spring has arrived.

Remember, along with a change in wardrobe for the season should come a change in scents.

Here’s some tips from their on-site fragrance experts on capturing the scents of the season.

* Bottle Design – Though this season’s scents play to the smell sense, the bottles that the perfumes are packaged in are a treat for the eyes. Scents like Prada Eau D’ Ambreé and Lola by Marc Jacobs are so extravagantly packaged you’ll want to buy them for the bottle alone.
* Cologne – Not just for men, cologne is an elegant alternative to an eau de toilette, the common category that most women’s perfumes fall into. Since cologne has lower alcohol content, it is easer to wear in warm weather and lasts longer. Hermés recently expanded its Colognes Collection with two sparkling scents, Eau de gentiane blanche and Eau de pamplemousse rose – both perfect introductions to Hermés exquisite scents.
* High Street – Most people think of the designers mentioned above when looking for a new scent, but high-street favorites GAP and bebe have some exciting launches coming up. GAP’s new scent for women, STAY and CORE, for men, arrives soon to coincide with its 40th anniversary. Bebe is building on the success of last year’s bebe eau de parfum with the new bebe Sheer.
* Music – Two of the original celebrities to launch perfumes, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez still have selling power. Inspired by her hit album, Circus, Ms. Spear’s recently launched Circus Fantasy. Lopez’s latest take on her popular Glow fragrance, Blue Glow, comes with a removable anklet.
* Tuberose – When extracted and used in fragrances this flower is one of the most carnal notes in perfume composition. For an unabashedly sexy scent, try the limited-edition Prada Infusion de Tubereuse.
