Christophe Decarnin Leaving Balmain, Successor to be Named Soon

Cathy Horyn reports that Christophe Decarnin has left Balmain. Rumors have been swirling about Decarnin after he didn’t show up at his own fashion show in Paris. Some reports say he was suffering from clinical depression and was in a mental hospital. Others say he was at odds with the CEO of Balmain.

Horyn says that his replacement is likely to come from inside the company, and that stylist Melanie Ward may get the job. She stepped in at the last minute and helped put together the fall 2011 collection.
