Easy Ways to Celebrate Earth Day and Save Money

They say we should celebrate Earth Day every day, but the actual holiday falls on April 22. The neat thing about going green is that often it can also save you green. From free activities to free trees, here are easy ways to celebrate Earth Day.
Find Free Events in Your Area – There are hundreds of Earth Day events you can take part in. From movie screenings to litter walks, these are mostly free events that help unite people for the planet. Search for things happening in your area at act.earthday.org. Plug in your location and you’ll find a list of free entertaining activities.
Free Trees at Lowe’sLowe’s is celebrating Earth Day by giving away a million trees. Score yours by heading to a Lowe’s store on April 23. You might want to go early because this freebie will probably go fast.
Grow Your Own Herbs – Take part in the Great Sunflower Project in honor of Earth Day and help restore bee populations. Purchase seeds from Reneesgarden.com and they’ll donate 25% of proceeds to the cause. Plus if you grow herbs like basil and rosemary you won’t have to buy fresh herbs from the grocery store when a recipe calls for them—you’ll just have to go to your garden.
Enjoy a Free Organic MilkshakeEVOS is handing out free organic milkshakes in honor of Earth Day. All locations will be giving away freebies—no purchase necessary—on April 22. Use this opportunity to learn about why eating organic food and less meat can help the environment.
Hang Up Your Car Keys – A great way to celebrate Earth Day (and save lots of money!) is by keeping your car in park for the day. Instead try greener forms of transportation like a bicycle, scooter or your own two feet.
